On 30 January 2025, a delegation of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO) met with the President of the Conference of European Churches (CEC), Archbishop Nikita of Thyatira and Great Britain (Ecumenical Patriarchate). The meeting took place at the Archbishop's residence in London.
Archbishop Nikita told the UCCRO representatives about the activities of the CEC and the Conference's consistent position in support of Ukraine in the Russian-Ukrainian war, as well as about the particularities of religious life and inter-religious dialogue in the UK.
The Council of Churches delegation thanked the Archbishop for the support of the Conference of European Churches to the Ukrainian people in resisting Russian aggression and for the opportunity to convey the truth about the war in Ukraine.
Participants in the meeting discussed and planned certain activities in the context of intensifying cooperation between the CEC and the UCCRO in 2025.
The UCCRO delegation met with parliamentarians from the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Religious Freedom and Belief, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's Eastern Research Group and the UK Prime Minister's Special Representative, David Smith, and took part in a roundtable discussion at Chatham House (Royal Institute of International Affairs).
