
On January 29, 2025, representatives of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO) in London took part in a round table on the topic "Orthodox Battlefield. The role of the Church and its abuse in Russia's war against Ukraine and the state of religious freedom in Ukraine". The event was held at Chatham House (Royal Institute of International Affairs).
The speakers at the roundtable at Chatham House were:
- Metropolitan Yevstratiy (Zoria) of Bila Tserkva, Orthodox Church of Ukraine;
- Lucy Ash, journalist, author of The Relay and the Cross: The Russian Church from Pagans to Putin;
- Pastor Igor Bandura, All-Ukrainian Union of Evangelical Christian Baptist Churches.
The event was hosted by Orysia Lutsevych, head of the Ukrainian Forum "Chatham House”.
The following questions were discussed at the roundtable:
- What is the significance of the Orthodox faith for Ukraine's identity and nation-building project?
- What is the reasoning behind the ban on the Russian Orthodox Church and the recognition of affiliated organizations in Ukraine?
- What is the nature of state-religious relations in modern Russia?
- What has been happening in Ukraine since 2014, when Russia first began its invasion of Ukraine?
- What is the actual state of religious freedom in Ukraine?
- How do different religious communities cooperate during the war?

On January 29, 2025, the UCCRO delegation met in London with members of Parliament from the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Religious Freedom and Belief, the Eastern Research Group of the British Foreign Office, and the Special Envoy of the British Prime Minister David Smith.
The delegation includes: The representative of the Chairman of the Council of Churches, Bishop Igor Bandura (AUCECB), Metropolitan Yevstratiy (Orthodox Church of Ukraine), Bishop Kenneth Nowakowski (Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church), Bishop Anatoliy Kozachok (Ukrainian Pentecostal Church), Bishop Stanislav Nosov (Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ukraine), priest Ruslan Mykhalkiv (Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine), Pastor Anatoliy Raychynets (Ukrainian Bible Society), Assistant Chief Rabbi of Kyiv and Ukraine Gennady Bilorytsky (Association of Jewish Religious Organizations of Ukraine), and Oleksandr Zaiets (Institute for Religious Freedom).
