On 3 February 2026, a meeting of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organisations (UCCRO) was held, during which a number of issues related to state–confessional relations were discussed and the scheduled rotation of the Chairmanship of the Council took place. The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Rustam Gafuri, Deputy Grand Mufti of Ukraine, and was hosted at the Ar-Rahma Mosque of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine.
Religious leaders considered proposals regarding the observance of the National Day of Prayer in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, taking into account the experience of last year’s session, and decided to submit relevant proposals to the Speaker of Parliament. The participants agreed that each denomination would send recommendations to its regional representatives encouraging churches and religious organisations to actively participate in events marking the National Day of Prayer at the regional and local levels.
Members of the UCCRO also discussed practical aspects of implementing Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution No. 76, which regulates the reservation (exemption) of clergy. They noted positive progress in its implementation while also identifying certain cases that require further consultations with government authorities.
In addition, the participants addressed issues related to the activities and support of Ukrainian clergy (pastors) providing pastoral care to Ukrainians abroad and agreed on joint steps to advance cooperation in this area.

In accordance with the Regulations of the UCCRO, the Chairmanship of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organisations for the next term has been transferred to the Transcarpathian Reformed Church, headed by Bishop Oleksandr Zan-Fabian. It should be recalled that the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine had chaired the UCCRO from July 2025 until this meeting.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), the Roman Catholic Church (RCC), the All-Ukrainian Union of Evangelical Christian-Baptists, the Ukrainian Pentecostal Church, the Ukrainian Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Ukrainian Evangelical Church, the Ukrainian Evangelical Christian Church, the Ukrainian Lutheran Church, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea, the Association of Jewish Religious Organisations of Ukraine, and the Institute for Religious Freedom.
