UCCRO concluded its advocacy visit to Brazil

On May 24, 2024, at the end of its visit to Brazil, the delegation of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO) held several events in the cities of São Paulo and Brasilia.

Part of the delegation, consisting of Anatoliy Raychynets (UkrBS), Ihor Bandura (AUUCBEC), Oleksandr Babiychuk (UCCEF), Ivan Rusyn (UEC), Fr. Rostyslav Vorobii (OCU), Oleksandr Pavenko (UCCEF) and Oleksandr Zaiets (IRF), visited the headquarters of the Brazilian Bible Society (BBS) in São Paulo.

In the morning, Bishop Oleksandr Babiychuk conducted a service for the Bible Society's staff of more than 600 people. Afterward, the UCCRO representatives were introduced to the work of the Brazilian Bible Society and had a tour of the Bible Printing Center, which operates around the clock and publishes 33,000 copies of Bibles and New Testaments daily and 1 million Bibles monthly.

The same day, RCC Bishop Oleksandr Yazlovetsky, together with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Brazil Andriy Melnyk, met with RCC Cardinal Paulo da Costa in Brasilia. After the meeting, Bishop Oleksandr Yazlovetsky and Ambassador Andriy Melnyk held a press conference for the Catholic media in Brazil to talk about the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the suffering of the Ukrainian people, and to answer journalists' questions about religious persecutions in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the destruction of church buildings by the Russian military, etc.

Recall that the visit of the UCCRO delegation to Brazil lasted from May 19 to 25, 2024. During the visit, the Ukrainian delegation visited the cities of São Paulo, Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro, and Brasilia.
